Meet Jaclyn Kozlowski, M.Ed.

I am a certified teacher with over a decade of experience in reading, writing, and langauge instruction. Currently, I serve as an ESOL Resource teacher in Hillsborough County FL, building teacher capacity in instructing English learners. I work with English learners in small group settings, supporting vocabulary development, langauge acquisition, reading, math, and science. I also facilitate district trainings on instructing English learners, phonics, and small group structures.
Prior to teaching in HCPS, I taught Analytical Writing at UC San Diego and Academic Writing at the University of Tampa. As a former college writing professor, I understand the level of critical thinking, reading, and writing required to excel in higher education. I also have experience developing curriculum and teaching abroad in El Progreso, Honduras and virtually in Kenya and Japan. My experience in these areas ensures that you receive optimal support in reading, writing, and language instruction.
While I am a passionate educator, my most important role is mother to two beautiful rambunctious bilingual boys. They are my inspiration for the Spanish Immersion PreK Program, Amiguitos Academy, and for fostering literacy among all learners.

Aprendí español y no es mi primer idioma. ¡A mí me encanta el idioma español! Mientras estudié por siete años en la escuela secundaria y en la universidad, tenía catorce años cuando comencé. Esto fue un proceso muy duro y lento. Aprendí mucho más cuando estuve en Honduras y en mi trabajo actual. Por esta razón, estoy enseñando a mis niños a comunicarse y leer en español. Me apasiona mucho el enseñar a una generación bilingüe. Me gradué con un diploma para enseñar inglés y mi pasión es ayudar a las personas que hablen diferentes idiomas. Tengo aproximadamente trece años de experiencia enseñando a personas las cuales quieren aprender inglés. Promoting Bilingualism and Biliteracy
The ability to speak multiple languages is a gift. It opens up worlds and brings people together. I learned Spanish, but it is not my first language. I fell in love with the language at fourteen. Because I was older, it was much harder to learn. I first learned by memorizing every verb congugation, which was very tedious! I reached fluency by immersing myself in the language and culture--communicating, reading, writing, and translating on a daily basis.
One of my passions is to raise a bilingual generation, hence my decision to teach my own children Spanish. Now that my oldest son is approaching PreK years, I want him to develop academic content knowledge in Spanish and English. However, dual language programs are few and far between. My desire to teach my sons how to read, write, and communicate in multiple languages birthed my Spanish Immersion PreK Program, Amiguitos Academy. Click below for more information.
